This effect resembles the Vienna carpet, shown on PP. 52-54, regarding the general composition and its motifs employed, although it is not as delicate. The designer, Aqa Mirak Isfahani, who is a follower of Isfahan school of art, is one of the most skilful designers of the King Tahmasseb’s court. Some motifs have probably been designed by Sultan Mohammad. The outstanding design of this carpet together with the accurate and delicate weave, as well as employment of fine raw material distinguishes this effect from other similar carpets. Although it was woven in the King Tahmasseb era, it has been maintained and preserved so well that the colour and glory of the desigh still look fresh.

The medallion and spandrels of this carpet are embellished with a scene of a fierce struggle between a dragon and a phoenix. At the same time the whole golden field is embedded by delicate scroll of khatayi motifs enjoying one single colour together with the motif of the hunters, pursuing some hunts such as lions, gazelles, rabbits, ibex and deer.

The wide border depicts scenes where sultans and kings are conversing and relaxing, while being entertained by the servants. The crimson ground of the border is adorned with trees and flowers. The narrow inner border is perfected by the composition of islimi and khatayi motifs. The narrow outer border is also decorated with khatayi motifs, where the bird motifs look significant among the scroll of khatayi motifs. Silk pile enriched with silver thread creates this outstanding work of art.
